All Bent Tree blogs should use the Bent Tree theme, in order to create a consistent experience and promote a common Bent Tree brand.

The Bent Tree theme, however, allows for a custom header image. Header images should be exactly 900 x 230 pixels and should blend appropriately into the Bent Tree theme. Custom header images should NOT have the Bent Tree badge in the top left corner, as the theme automatically adds this for you.

An example of a custom header image would look like this:

To add the custom header image to your blog:

Click on ‘Appearance’ in the main left menu.

Click on ‘Custom Image Header’ in the sub-menu that appears below the ‘Appearance’ menu.

Click on the ‘Browse…’ button to select an image from your computer.

Click on the ‘Upload’ button.

If your header image already contains the name of your blog, you can click on the ‘Hide Text’ button to hide the text header.

Click ‘Save Changes’

Your resulting blog will look something like this:

Server Storage Space

Each WordPress blog has its own storage space for uploading images and other files. Your storage space usage is displayed on the Dashboard page when editing your blog:

You can request more space from the Bent Tree communications department.

Media Browser

You can view all of the files you have uploaded by clicking on ‘Media’ in the left-hand main menu. You can upload new files to the Media Library by clicking on ‘Add New.’

Large Images

IMPORTANT: WordPress 2.7 with our hosting company has problems processing uploaded images that are larger than about 1 Megapixel. When an image is uploaded that is too large for WordPress to process, an ‘ERROR 500′ message is displayed. To avoid this problem, resize your images using photo editing or image editing software before uploading. It is recommended that you resize your photographs to 800×600 pixels or smaller.
